Not all of the devices are made available on store shelves because some are just for show.<\/p>\n<p>CES 2017 kicked off late last week, and it was much of the same.<\/p>\n<p>But Norway-based Airthings \u2013 previously known as Corentium \u2013 showed off their new device, an active radon sensor, and it will soon be available for all.<\/p>\n<p>You may be wondering why this is important, so consider this. Annual deaths from radon gas <a title=\"RadonResources.com - Radon is Deadlier Than Infographic\" href=\"https:\/\/radonresources.com\/resources\/radon-fact-infographics\/#deadlier\">are higher than drunk driving<\/a>, which is responsible for more than 17,000 deaths a year as opposed to 21,000.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Introducing the Airthings\u2019 Wave<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Airthings Wave is a Bluetooth enable radon detector for homeowners. It is so named because once installed you can simply wave your hand in front of the sensor to see a reading of the radon levels in your home.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/radonresources.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Airthings-Wave-Smart-Radon-Sensor-with-Bluetooth.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1457\" src=\"https:\/\/radonresources.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Airthings-Wave-Smart-Radon-Sensor-with-Bluetooth-300x282.jpg\" alt=\"Airthings Wave Radon Sensor\" width=\"300\" height=\"282\" srcset=\"https:\/\/radonresources.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Airthings-Wave-Smart-Radon-Sensor-with-Bluetooth-300x282.jpg 300w, https:\/\/radonresources.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Airthings-Wave-Smart-Radon-Sensor-with-Bluetooth-624x586.jpg 624w, https:\/\/radonresources.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Airthings-Wave-Smart-Radon-Sensor-with-Bluetooth.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>A color-coded LED ring on the front of the Wave will turn different colors to indicate whether the radon levels are safe or dangerous. Green means the levels in your home are normal \u2013 and safe \u2013 while yellow is a warning, and red means dangerous. The idea is that if the sensor shows yellow or red, you will take action by further testing your home.<\/p>\n<p>The Wave also has temperature and humidity sensors to detect other changes in the home.<\/p>\n<p>All data is synced to a mobile app \u2013 available for both Android and iOS \u2013 and organized appropriately. After some time of operation, you will be able to see the long and short term radon averages for the levels in your home.<\/p>\n<p>They plan to sell the device for $199 and will begin shipping in March of this year.<\/p>\n<p>If you want an active radon detector in your home, this is a great option.
